Songs of the Melting Dark

Songs of the Melting Dark is an immersive VR experience that reflects on the effects of climate changes on humans and other living beings through a poetic atmosphere, sound, and embodied presence. The project creates a calm yet unsettling frozen environment where fragile ecosystems slowly altered by global warming. Through environmental storytelling, spatial sound design, and moments of sensory deprivation, the experience invites viewers to slow down, observe, and emotionally engage with change, vulnerability, and uncertainty. By shifting between visibility and darkness, silence and sound, the work emphasizes that these impacts do not happen suddenly, but unfold gradually and quietly, encouraging reflection on humanity’s role in transformations that often go unnoticed until it is too late.
